1. Fundamentals of HIV Medical Case Management

Organizer: MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center, with Health Federation of Philadelphia involvement

This two-day virtual course covers client engagement, access to services, trauma-informed approaches, documentation, and collaboration in HIV case management. Laura Hinds, MSW, LCSW, will lead the training.

When: October 13–14, 9 a.m.–noon each day

Eligibility: Pennsylvania Ryan White case managers, SNNLP navigators, Pennsylvania Department of Health employees, and county/municipal health department employees. Registration is password-protected.

2. Public Health Update: Measles Virus

Organizer: Penn State Nese Project ECHO

Jessica Ericson, MD, and Catharine Paules, MD, will discuss recognizing measles, identifying risk factors, protecting clinical settings, and using vaccination in outbreak prevention and response. Registrants will receive the recording and resources afterward, even if they cannot attend live.

3. Identifying and Addressing Substance Use Impacts with SBIRT

Organizers: Quality Insights and Pennsylvania Department of Health

This one-hour training focuses on identifying and addressing substance use through SBIRT. It is part of Pennsylvania’s education series on pain management, opioid prescribing, and substance use care, offered to interested health care providers and staff.

When: October 20, 1–2 p.m.

4. Data to Care: A Public Health Strategy to Improve Care

Organizer: MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center / Health Federation of Philadelphia

Kathleen Brady, MD, MSCE, Director and Medical Director of Philadelphia’s Division of HIV Health, will discuss using clinical and surveillance data to improve continuity of HIV care. The session focuses on identifying gaps, addressing barriers, and connecting people with care providers.

5. Public Benefits for People with HIV, Part 1

Organizer: MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center

Jacob Eden, Esq., of the AIDS Law Project will lead this three-day course on public benefits. Sessions cover Medicaid eligibility pathways, coverage for people with disabilities, and dual eligibility for Medicare and Medicaid.

6. Social Media, AI, Chatbots, and Youth Mental Health

Organizer: Pennsylvania’s GLS Youth Suicide Prevention KEY-PPLE grant team and partners

Candice Biernesser, PhD, LCSW, will review adolescent use of social media and AI, drawing on research and input from a youth advisory board. The session will also explore resources and strategies that parents, schools, and mental health providers can use to support young people’s use of digital technology.
