Looking for a place to present your research, share lessons from your work, or meet colleagues? These opportunities include meetings coming to Philadelphia and national gatherings relevant to our region’s public health community. Some submission deadlines are approaching quickly.
1. American Academy of Health Behavior: Abstracts due October 9
The Academy’s 2027 Scientific Meeting welcomes research abstracts and proposals describing new or ongoing research studies. Topics include health behaviors, mental health, substance use, chronic disease prevention, and healthy aging. Members, nonmembers, and first-time attendees may submit.
Abstracts are limited to 300 words and considered for poster presentations, with an option to request consideration for a five-minute lightning talk. There will be no separate late-breaking call.
Meeting: April 4–7, 2027, in Nashville, Tennessee.

2. American Heart Association EPI|Lifestyle: Abstracts due October 14
This meeting focuses on epidemiology, prevention, lifestyle, and cardiovascular and metabolic health. The program includes research presentations, networking roundtables, and events for early-career professionals. A new educational track addresses applying evidence in clinical, public health, and community settings.
Meeting: March 1–4, 2027, at the Westin Boston Seaport in Boston, Massachusetts.

3. ICMA Annual Conference in Philadelphia: Session proposals due November 13
The International City/County Management Association is seeking session proposals for its 2027 conference in Philadelphia. This could be a fit for public health professionals whose work connects with local government, community partnerships, emergency preparedness, violence prevention, or community mental health.
The published submission window is October 1–November 13. The submission portal is available, although the conference information page also contains a conflicting “Call is closed” notice. Confirm availability with the organizer before preparing a proposal.

4. American Osler Society in Philadelphia: Abstracts due November 15
Working on the history of public health, epidemics, medicine, or medical education? The American Osler Society welcomes original scholarship in medical history and the medical humanities from people at all career stages.
For its Philadelphia meeting, the Society particularly encourages work related to the founding of American medicine in the city. Public health and epidemics are among the suggested topics. Abstracts may contain up to 370 words.
Meeting: May 14–17, 2027, in Philadelphia.

5. APHA Annual Meeting: Attend in person or explore the digital option
The American Public Health Association’s upcoming Annual Meeting offers opportunities to learn from research presentations, meet colleagues, and connect across public health specialties.
This listing is an opportunity to attend and learn. APHA also offers a digital registration option with livestreamed general sessions, recordings of oral scientific sessions, poster images, and other on-demand content. Continuing education credits are not available through the digital meeting.

6. Mid-Atlantic Breakfast Convening: Meet regional colleagues at APHA
If you are attending APHA in San Antonio, the public health associations of the Mid-Atlantic region are organizing a breakfast gathering. It offers a chance to connect with professionals from the region and discuss shared public health goals.
Date: November 1, 2026.

7. Philadelphia meeting to watch: Teaching Prevention 2027
The Association for Prevention Teaching and Research will bring educators, researchers, practitioners, students, and trainees to Philadelphia for a meeting focused on prevention and population health.
An October 2 announcement says the call for abstracts is open and describes opportunities to share research, educational innovations, and practice projects. However, the presentation page still says submission details and deadlines are coming soon. Check with the organizer for the current instructions.
